"We absolutely insist on having fun in sobriety. We will destroy any misconception that being sober means enjoying life is over"
- Robert Pfeifer, Founder of Sober College
Since Sober College opened its doors in 2007, we have been successfully helping struggling young adults overcome addiction and teaching them the tools they need to live a happy and sober life. As we enter into 2012 Sober College celebrates its sixth year and over 750 clients served. Graduates of our program regularly return to Sober College to share their experience strength and hope with current clients, and reminisce with staff about "back when they were at Sober College." Leading lives across the country as doctors, lawyers, accounts, soldiers, parents, sons and daughter, these Sober College graduates demonstrate exactly just what our program is all about.
A young adult's path to sustainable long-term sobriety and healthy living requires an approach that is comprehensive, specifically tailored to their age group and creates an emotional attachment to the idea of being sober. Sober College provides its students with the best and most up-to-date dual-diagnosis clinical treatment possible, including but not limited to, weekly individual therapy and daily group therapy by licensed or license eligible clinicians, bi-weekly sessions with our staff psychiatrist if needed, and a mini-neuropsychological screener upon admission. While remaining on the forefront of young adult addiction treatment, Sober College has created a program of attraction that makes the idea of sobriety irresistible. This concept of attraction based programming is at the core of what sets us apart.
In addition, Sober College is proud to announce that we are still the ONLY young adult drug rehab program that offers its students an on-site college experience through its partnership with a WASC accredited institution, earning Sober College its trademark status. Last year we finalized the curriculum for the 5th Woodbury University course currently being taught on campus at Sober College, and congratulated three of our alumni on their acceptance into Woodbury University as full time students.
Our attraction based model, with emphasis on life skills and educational and/or vocational growth will continue to set Sober College apart as it moves into its 7th year. We look forward to continuing to change and grow in whatever way needed to keep Sober College on the fore-front of addiction treatment, as it has been since its beginning.
