Dear Parents,
I am writing to you in order to announce some very exciting news that has developed recently as part of our relationship with Woodbury University. As many of you know, with the development of our fourth and fifth classes, we have completed the Certificate of General Studies curriculum. This certificate program offers students the chance to earn fifteen WASC-accredited college hours during their time with Sober College. Now, with the most recent development, ALL of our students have the chance to be accepted to college, regardless of their academic histories.
About three months ago, Robert Pfeifer and I were meeting with Dr. Joye Swan from Woodbury University and she presented some very exciting news. Students who have a high school diploma or GED and who complete all five courses outlined below will not only receive a certificate of General Studies from Woodbury and fifteen college credit hours, they will also be offered Guaranteed Admission to the university, regardless of ACT or SAT scores. In addition, students who earn a 3.0 or higher in these five classes and who register full-time at Woodbury will be awarded a $5,000 annual merit scholarship. This is an amazing opportunity for our students.
In order to complete this certificate program nad earn the guaranteed admission Sober College students will need to complete the following courses from Woodbury with a 2.5 GPA or higher:
COMM 120 - Public Speaking
COMM 2704 - Creative Writing
SOCI100 - Sociology: Drugs and Alcohol in Popular Culture
BHVR1701 - Health and Wellness
PSYC170 - Psychology of Personal Transformation
