Cozzens left Provo Canyon School to take this opportunity with Center for Change. The program is adding residential treatment to their current level of care, expanding their capacity to 62 beds. The Center focuses exclusively on the treatment of eating disorders.
SPIRITUALITY SURVEY
(November 21, 2000) Kees de Vente, M.Div., Spiritual Coordinator, Hidden Lake Academy, Dahlonega, Georgia, 706-864-4730, hiddenlakeacademy@alltel.net, http://www.hiddenlakeacademy.com, announced 33 out of 55 special needs schools responded to the questionnaires they circulated to assess official attitudes toward spirituality on the various campuses. 64% indicated “spirituality is a component of their program,” 29% of those held formal services weekly on campus, 43% held services at least monthly, 90% had students who attended services at local churches/synagogues, 48% reported students active in local church/community activities including youth groups, and 29% have a Spiritual Coordinator/Chaplain on campus. HUNTER SCHOOL SEEKING TO ENROLL GIRLS

ACADEMY AT CEDAR MOUNTAIN ACCREDITED

During the same month, they received full academic accreditation by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, the standard accrediting agency for schools throughout most of the West. Tuttle also announced two “Knowledge Treks” scheduled for this summer. The Grand Circle will sweep through Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado, from June 1 to June 28th. The other Knowledge Trek that will travel through Mexico, is scheduled from June 2nd through June 29th.

RED TOP MEADOWS SUMMER PROGRAM

The expedition will take place in the mountains of western Wyoming. The staff will work with the family and therapists to “set reasonable goals and objectives” for each participant. Offered at a very competitive fee, they assert the trip will help motivate boys to learn skills that can be used successfully in their community. It also will serve as a “useful assessment tool for parents or referral agencies looking for a direction to meet a student’s needs.”

NEW HORIZONS WILDERNESS PROGRAM
(March 30, 2001) Caroline Wolf announced the grand opening of New Horizons, an all-female wilderness program based in Orrington, Maine, 207-992-2424, nhwp@earthlink.net. This five to eight week program will open in June of this year. Wolf, who has worked with the CEDU Schools and Second Nature, is working with Jacqueline Danforth, who was associated with Rocky Mountain Academy (A CEDU School). Both were graduates of Emotional Growth schools. They assert this “is the first East Coast all female program of its kind to be located in the healing, rural landscape of Northern Maine. DANCING MOON EXPEDITIONS

Crisis care prior to an expedition can often be arranged and the expeditions will be limited to four participants who will be accompanied by two staff members.
YOUTHTRACK-UTAH JACHO ACCREDITATION
(March 30, 2001) Scott Stringam, Site Director, Youthtrack-Utah, 435-723-1799, www.utah- youthtrack.com, announced the program has received accreditation from the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Youthtrack-Utah is a community-based program with 24-hour, staff-secure supervision and intensive clinical intervention. It works with male juvenile sex offenders, offering treatment tracks both for the adolescents whose cognitive functions are at a lower level, as well as sexually aggressive adolescents who function at an average cognitive level.
