Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized nonprofit treatment organization for adults with mental illness, is pleased to welcome Pamela Ayo Yetunde as pastoral counselor.
Previously, Yetunde worked as a pastoral counselor and marriage and family resident at the Care and Counseling Center of Georgia. She has studied spirituality in Protestant, Catholic and Buddhist traditions, as well as engaged in many interfaith dialogue settings. She is also a certified mediation teacher. Yetunde completed her chaplaincy residency in Berkeley, CA, and worked as a hospice chaplain. She earned a M.A. in culture and spirituality from Holy Names University in Oakland, CA, and currently is earning a doctorate in theology (Th.D.) in pastoral counseling from Columbia Theological Seminary.
In her role at Skyland Trail, Yetunde plans services for clients, facilitates group discussions and meets with clients individually. She facilitates various groups including Compassion Meditation, Experiencing Spirituality, and Loss and Grief.
"I strive to incorporate and integrate one's spirituality into everything I do. I serve people of all faiths and help clients identify their strengths, validate their wisdom and encourage their growth," says Yetunde.
Pastoral Counseling is part of the holistic approach to recovery at Skyland Trail, playing an important part in addressing a client's spiritual needs alongside programs focused on mental and physical health. The program integrates spirituality into clients' treatment and helps clients find the spiritual practices that work best for them during their recovery.
Skyland Trail is a nonprofit mental health treatment organization serving adults ages 18 and older. Our goal is to help individuals recover from mental illness and live as independently and successfully as possible in the community. We specialize in treating adults with bipolar illness, major depression, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and anxiety disorders, as well as patients who have complex diagnoses involving substance misuse or personality disorders. We offer a unique continuum of care - from intensive, 24/7 residential care, to job coaching and social opportunities for individuals living in the community. Since 1989, we have served more than 2,000 individuals and their families.
