Located on a functioning horse ranch, Skyland Ranch, which was founded in 1987, is a 501 (c) (3), not for profit, long term addiction rehabilitation facility for men ages 18-60. This alcohol and drug free environment offers more structure than a half way house or outpatient treatment program, for men who struggle with staying sober.

David "Pa" Pitkin is the director of Skyland Ranch, who prior to starting the ranch, was an attorney in California, a defense attorney, prosecutor and judge pro tem. He also worked with the juvenile justice system. Clay Eakin, BA, NCAC I, is the program advisor and has previous experience as a residential manager, in crisis intervention and job development. Program Manager is Michael Frisk, RC, CDPT, Christine "Puff" Pitkin (Dave's wife) is in charge of ranch operations and Bill Kohlmeyeer, MSW, CDS, is a consultant on staff and specializes in anger management.

Skyland Ranch is a working ranch that rents horses to the public and offers equestrian activities and classes. Residents assist in the operations, working with the customers, training and caring for the horses, learning to be responsible, treating each other with respect and having fun while maintaining a clean and sober life from alcohol and drugs. Daily group sessions and AA/NA meetings are offered, in addition to one on one counseling and anger management classes. The program offers a back to basics life style where the residents set individual goals and build self esteem through their work, gain necessary life skills and learn compromise and negotiation on the ranch with their fellow residents, horses and staff members.
