We are very excited to announce the merger of Skelton, Thomason and Associates with York Educational Advantage. We will operate under the new name of Skelton, Thomason and York. We are excited to welcome Jason!

Jason York has been working with struggling adolescents and young adults for the last 18 years. He was first exposed to this field when his younger brother was seventeen and sent to a wilderness program. Jason witnessed the life changing experiences taking place, and decided to leave management in the corporate world and spend the summer working for a therapeutic wilderness program in southern Utah. He worked three years on the trail with students and then later transitioned into a management role as a Field Director. After a year of running the operational side, he took on a new challenge as the Director of Admissions and Marketing. Doing admissions allowed Jason to work directly with parents for the first time. He supported families in crisis with enrollments in wilderness programs and admissions for residential treatment centers. He also contributed to the startup of the first adult wilderness program at this time.

Eventually, Jason started his own family and was given the opportunity to help grow another wilderness program while transitioning back to his home state of Texas. Over the next several years, he contributed to the national growth of the program, becoming the largest and most clinically driven wilderness therapy program in the country. During his time as an Admissions Director, he was able to work with many educational consultants and thousands of the families.

In 2007, Jason felt that he wanted to go back to working directly with students and their families. He yearned to be an integral part of the full journey students and families make through treatment by consulting and specializing in therapeutic placements. Jason founded York Educational Advantage and has been consulting with families ever since.

He is excited to merge practices as he has collaborated with Deborah in many facets throughout his career. They have very similar approaches when working with families. He is compassionate, patient and has an uncanny ability to connect with his clients and their families. Jason surrounds himself with others in the industry that have integrity and are passionate about the journey. He often says "This is my calling. It is a lifestyle, not a job."

Coming from a program background, Jason truly understands what it is like for a student. He can share first hand stories and experiences of life on the trail. He regularly travels to visits programs and schools. Jason has strong relationships with Admissions Directors, Clinical Directors, Therapists and Educational Directors across the country. This network of relationships allows him to match not only the program with a client, but the best therapist for each client within a specific program. He prides himself in using his extensive background to personalize each recommendation to programs he stands behind in order to set the student and family up for success. Jason understands how difficult this process is and makes himself available day or night.

Jason enjoys the outdoors, his Arkansas Razorbacks and openly admits he is humbled by golf every time he tees off. He is a proud father and considers being a "Dad", the greatest gift and blessing in his life!

Skelton Thomason and York are educational consultants specializing in residential treatment options for troubled pre-teens, teenagers, and young adults.
