June 24-26 marked our second parent weekend for our girls program. Our tradition is to hold our first night off-site for the families and then host a dinner for the parents while they get to know each other and us in a relaxed setting. Our families and students are involved in a full weekend of parent orientation, individual family therapy, group therapy, and lastly, multi-family group with and without their daughters. In addition to our standard workshops we offer Equine therapy during our summer workshops. We utilized some of our gifted therapists and used this method of therapy in a multi-family setting for a very powerful impact. Our parents were able to spend individual 1:1 time with our teachers to discuss their daughters school work, credits, and planning for the upcoming
semester.
In addition to the workshops and groups offered, our families enjoyed a beautiful weekend of being together outdoors. Many hours were filled with laughter while families engaged in a day of playing: horseshoes, crocheting, softball, BBQ'ing and making homemade root beer! Once again we had musical entertainment from our students and staff with duets, singing, dancing, and a surprise solo performance by a once shy young lady who plays the violin with perfection.
The following week the girls enjoyed trips to the Grand Canyon, Panguitch Lake, Beaver Creek Mountain, and Calf Creek Falls. While some of our girls were headed home for visits, most of the students came back early enough to join in on one of the many excursions planned for the week.
Silverado Academy is an owner-operated licensed therapeutic boarding school for adolescents ages 13-18. We offer a dual gender campus with gender specific programming. We are committed to provide an empowering experience for students, while guiding them to become respectful, responsible, and resilient young adults. Silverado utilizes a relationship-based model that integrates real world skills through experiential therapy, challenging academic curriculum, and student-parent-family workshops.
