We are pleased to announce that Josh Miller has joined the clinician team at Silverado Academy. Many of you may remember Josh from his days as a therapist and field instructor at Cedar Ridge Academy and Outback Wilderness Program.

Josh brings over ten years of experience working with troubled youth and their families in a variety of settings. He began his career as a residential staff working with learning disabled sexual offenders. Josh has rounded out his experience by working in inpatient hospital settings, residential treatment facilities, Utah Children Protective Services, therapeutic boarding schools, and wilderness programs. He has worked as a front line staff, trail staff, logistics coordinator, assistant field director, staff trainer, primitive arts instructor, transition camp manager, program director, and therapist. Josh has also participated in a student teaching program and taught math to children having the diagnosis of emotionally disturbed. He has also taught English to elementary students in Taiwan.

Over the years, Josh has taken his professional experience as a therapist and combined it with his passion for the outdoors. In 2008, he founded RAD, Roosevelt Adventure Dudes, a local group that finds adventure in the forms of caving, climbing, and other adventure sports. He and his golden retriever, Barley, are certified by Delta society and UAATA, Utah Animal Assisted therapy Association as a volunteer therapy animal team.

Josh is a hands on therapist who welcomes the opportunity to be creative in his approach with students while utilizing an experiential and relationship model modality. His experience, passion, and commitment compliment Silverado's core philosophy and belief in providing strong clinical support in a warm and nurturing atmosphere. Josh enjoys family time with his wife Malinda of six years and their 3-year-old son and 6-month-old daughter. He also enjoys skiing, mountaineering, backpacking, hiking, and mountain biking.

Silverado Academy is an owner-operated licensed therapeutic boarding school for adolescents ages 13-18. We are committed to provide an empowering experience for students, while guiding them to become respectful, responsible, and resilient young men and young women. Silverado utilizes a relationship-based model that integrates real world skills through experiential therapy, progressive academic curriculum, and student-parent-family workshops.
