April 2010
Approximately 60 Parents and Siblings from across the country gathered together here in Georgia to visit with the resident teens of Shepherd's Hill Farm for the 2010 Annual Spring Parent - Sibling Conference. We praise God for all the many blessings He bestowed upon the event.
Shepherd's Hill Farm, a Christian High School for troubled kids, hosted families and siblings in a myriad of therapeutic events during this past weekend. It was a time for God to offer His healing hand to these hurting families. Fun Family Adventures and good food were enjoyed by everyone!
Parents and Siblings were given the opportunity to meet new friends. They were able to share the common bond of having a family with a teen in crisis, and could see God's reign over Shepherd's Hill Farm. To "kick-off" the weekend for this Christian High School for troubled kids, four families participated in a Prayer Walk. The Prayer Walk consisted of these families walking the same paths that their troubled teens do every day into the woods to their resident campsites. Upon arriving at the base of the campsites, the families continued to pray for the upcoming events of the weekend.
As the weekend came to a close, the Parents were given the opportunity to debrief with the Shepherd's Hill Farm staff members. Staff members commented on how efficient and effective the conference was. The Parents were in agreement and had the following comments to offer:
One Parent said "I have hope for my son. I know God has a plan for him on His time."
"It is so wonderful to hear my daughter get excited about the activities she is involved here. She was excited about visiting a woman in the nursing home. It's good to hear her get excited about the little things in life."
"This was the best time yet that we have spent with our son."
"Our son is starting to communicate with us again."
"We can see a difference in our son is just 2 ½ weeks."
Seeds of God's truth are being planted every day to the troubled teens who reside at Shepherd's Hill Farm. With His seeds landing on these young lives, it is our hope and prayer that soon these seeds will be cultivated in their lives yielding abundant fruit. It's been said, "No kid leaves Shepherd's Hill Farm the same as he arrived." Transformation is what God's Truth does to the human spirit. As stated in 2nd Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
