Shadow Mountain Recovery, formerly known as Desert Oasis Recovery, has moved to the Gibson Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The new facility has 24 single occupancy rooms with adjoining private baths in a newly renovated space of 14,500 square feet. Shadow Mountain Recovery has been established since 2007, with its flagship Extended Care Residential facility located in Taos, New Mexico.

Shadow Mountain Recovery, located in Albuquerque, offers affordable detox and residential programs as well as a daytime intensive outpatient program. All of the programs offered utilize traditional and evidence-based therapies. Our medically trained team of professionals is dedicated to helping people change their lives and overcome the very real challenge of addiction.
Dr. Kathleen Johnson MD, Medical Director at Shadow Mountain Recovery, is one of New Mexico's leading psychiatrists, with a specialty in addictionology. Dr. Johnson is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and American Board of Addiction Medicine.
The following programs are offered:
Residential Medical Detox: The medical staff includes MD Psychiatrists, RNs, and LPNs that offer Pharmacotherapy, crisis stabilization, and psychiatric assessment.
Residential Program: Our clinical staff deliver a program of evidence-based practices structured in an abstinence based program offering individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, didactic groups, and staffed by licensed therapists and addiction counselors.
Daytime Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): The intensive outpatient program is available for clients after the appropriate timing of residential treatment has been completed to support them transition back to into their regular life. The program includes recovery workshops, relapse prevention, nine (9) hours of individual and group instruction per week.
