Deer Valley Academy

Continuing with our philosophy and treatment specialties, we are excited to announce the addition of the Deer Valley Academy for adolescents with Asperger's & other High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders. For over 20 years, Sequel - Paint Rock Valley has provided a unique treatment approach that focuses on helping teens to accept personal responsibility for their actions & teaches skills to help build healthy relationships. We believe in using a variety of carefully guided programming opportunities & therapy to lead our youth to living more productive, well-balanced lives. We will be able to serve the children of the Tennessee Valley who have not had the opportunity to have specialized services for these types of disorders.

The program has been developed for boys who are functioning academically at or above grade level as determined by an evaluation of transcripts & school professional references. We serve grades 7-12 (we will not enroll based on age, but by grade level). We understand that several of the students will have a secondary diagnosis (ADHD, Mood Disorder, ODD, etc) and we will assess our ability to work with secondary diagnoses on a case by case basis through the admission screening process. All students must be ambulatory, have any seizures under control & all other medical conditions will be screened on a case by case basis.

We will offer a two-part program in our Deer Valley Academy. The academy will run a regular school year from August to May. The second-part of the academy will be a summer camp for the months of June and July.

Deer Valley Academy, operated by Sequel TSI, is licensed by Alabama Board of Education and the Alabama Department of Youth Services. Our school is SACS/CASI accredited. Deer Valley Academy is affiliated with Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. We are a member of the Better Business Bureau and on the list of SEVIS approved schools in Alabama.
