Sedona Sky Academy, a fully licensed and accredited residential treatment center for young women ages 13-18, is pleased to announce that 11 of our students have been accepted for publication in the Creative Communications Poetry Contest.
Creative Communications is devoted to the promotion of writing, teaching and appreciation of student writing. According to their website, Creative Communications has helped to inspire and encourage student writers with national writing contests for over 20 years. The top entries are published in an anthology to record the creative insights of today's student writers. In addition, the organization's Classroom Rewards program helps fund classroom supplies for teachers across the United States.
"We are extremely proud of our students who were accepted for publication, and all who entered the writing contest," said Judy Haddon, Creative Writing Teacher at Sedona Sky. "The girls have worked hard on this project and deserve the accolades for their excellent poetry."
Less than 50% of students who enter are accepted to be published. The contest judges consist of published writers and educators in elementary, secondary and higher education.
Sedona Sky Academy students entered the contest in December. The school will receive a free anthology as a result of the number of girls accepted, and will also receive points toward free classroom supplies.
