Sedona Sky Academy Students Top National Average

On behalf of everyone at Sedona Sky Academy, I am pleased to announce that 100% of our girls who applied to a four-year college were accepted, and our students scored well above the national average on their recent SAT and ACT exams.

Sedona Sky Academy is wholly committed to helping girls reach their full potential inside and outside of the classroom. Our Academic Director and School Principal Ken Buxton leads an outstanding, versatile staff to drive academic success.

Sedona Sky Academy's outstanding teaching staff includes Judy Haddon, an English teacher who also teaches language arts, culinary arts and child development; Bethany Becker, a Spanish teacher who also teaches health, studio art, and psychology, as well as leading the school's one-week community service trips to Los Angeles twice a year; history/social science teacher, Marika Meassick, who also teaches Irish Step Dancing; and Vice Principal Jason Metzger who teaches English, U.S. government, and economics.

In addition to leading this exceptional group, Ken teaches SAT/ACT test prep courses, a Shakespeare course and advanced math, and has led numerous week-long trips to student leadership conferences in Washington DC, and trips to the Utah Shakespeare Festival tournament where the girls compete against thousands of other students.

Ken is truly an asset to Sedona Sky, with over 20 years' experience in the field. He also has a passion for dramatic arts and has directed over 35 theatrical productions. His philosophy of education centers around respect for and trust in the student.

"I've found that whether a student is problem-solving in the math classroom, competing in a Shakespeare tournament, or participating in the Presidential Classroom program in Washington, DC, when she knows that someone has confidence in her, there is no stopping her," he says.

Sedona Sky Academy is a fully licensed and accredited residential treatment center serving adolescent girls ages 13-18 who may be experiencing family or peer conflict, academic failure, self-esteem issues, drug or alcohol use, and more.
