SeaChange Hawaii has become a member of the Independent Small Programs Alliance (ISPA), a strategic business alliance founded by Andy Anderson Consulting, Inc. headquartered in Clearwater, FL. ISPA was founded in March 2005 (www.ispaaac.com) to provide an opportunity for independent smaller programs to be more competitive and more successful in the private pay therapeutic market.
Located in Kaneohe, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, is a 28-day Ocean Based Adventure Therapy Program for boys ages 14-18 that takes place aboard the Sailing School Vessel, SSV Makani Olu (Gracious Wind). The program is designed to provide physical and emotional challenges, structure, community building, metaphorical learning, and clinical opportunities that enable your child to overcome personal challenges. A ship is the perfect platform for therapeutic change, and Makani Olu has been providing safe ocean voyages for challenged youth since 2001. Voyaging and working as crew aboard a ship provides opportunities that allow a child to rise to their own potential. Shipboard life is rigorous and challenging and provides for physical, emotional, behavioral, and even vocational growth. A trained Masters level Therapist, Licensed Crew and Therapeutic Sailing Instructors will be present for the entire trip. This allows for therapy to happen at any moment, and in particular, when the participant needs it the most.
Andy Anderson, President of Andy Anderson Consulting, Inc. stated, "I am excited to have SeaChange and the Marimed Foundation involved with the Independent Small Programs Alliance. SeaChange provides therapy in not only a beautiful base of the Hawaiian Islands, but there is no greater wilderness than the Pacific Ocean".
Anderson continued with "It offers a perfect venue for young people to learn about life, our mother earth, and most importantly themselves and the interrelationships of family, humanity, and community. I welcome SeaChange as an important addition to ISPA. ISPA is growing and its membership is made up of high quality programs with a client/family focus with a commitment to integrity and service".
