SavingTeens® has assisted over 70 families through grants totaling over $350,000 to parents and therapeutic programs since our founding in 2004. These awards subsidize program fees and individual counseling expenses. Without the support provided by our generous donors, these families would have been unable to access the spectrum of care their adolescent needed.
A few examples of SavingTeens' impact:
"John" was out of control. He was fourteen and wrestling with substance addiction. He was not attending school and had been detained by the authorities for a number of offenses. Through the generous support of SavingTeens, he embarked upon a multistage recovery that included wilderness and therapeutic programs, assistance to help him transition back home, and six months at a private school allowing John to graduate high school with the necessary academic skills to achieve self-sufficiency. Currently, John is thriving, works two jobs, is married, and thinking about going back to school.
"Sue" was oppositional and angry. The family was in crisis as Sue's behavior escalated. Her mother did not know where to turn. Sue's treatment at a therapeutic program in Michigan was funded by a scholarship facilitated by SavingTeens. The Fine Arts program Sue attended helped her self confidence reach levels her family had never imagined. She continues to perform at school functions and other community events. Her mother states, "Overall- I'm amazed at who this young lady has developed into and continues to become. The whole thing is a miracle, though we still live one day at a time."
"SavingTeens exists to help young people like John and Sue, providing their families with access to high-quality therapeutic options that would otherwise be well beyond their means. "Saving Teens is committed to supporting these families through their entire journey of therapeutic care" stated John Reuben, Founder and President.
Direct financial support accounts for only a fraction of the impact SavingTeens has in expanding access to quality treatment options for at-risk teens. The combination of pro-bono educational consulting, counselling services, and program discounts and scholarships has allowed SavingTeens to provide nearly $750,000 in additional value to adolescents and their families.
When SavingTeens identifies a family for assistance, we assign one of our affiliated volunteer educational consultants for advice in navigating the process. Once the suitable treatment plan is determined, our probono professionals and other volunteers work with appropriate NATSAP member programs and other supporting services to ensure an affordable and successful placement.
Reuben concluded, "SavingTeens is proud of its efforts over the past ten years, but we know there is so much more to do. We want to thank all the programs, schools, donors and volunteers who have contributed to helping so many families in coordination with SavingTeens".
SavingTeens is a recognized 501(c)(3) organization to which contributions are fully deductible under IRS regulations.
