Hello again,
Today is a very sad one for me. I lost my son Michael exactly two years ago to heroin addiction. I ran my 6 miles today with a heavy heart. No one should feel like I do, ever. Saving Teens In Crisis Collaborative was created to prevent this.
The training is proceeding well. I did my first 20 mile run on Saturday and completed 45 for the week. It was a long and demanding week and this is just the beginning. That all being said I feel very fortunate to be able to dedicate myself to something that serves as positive tribute to Michael.
We have raised over $8,500 so far from a diverse set of individuals and corporations that include household names like Nintendo and Curtiss-Wright, and leading edge technology providers like Real Magnet and Aternity Inc. We thank all of you for your support.
While this is fantastic, it is still far short of our goal of $40,000. So as my training accelerates over the coming weeks our fundraising also needs to grow dramatically.
Before he passed Michael was a great salesperson who always over achieved. He never accepted any excuses for not making his number. He would insist that I not only meet my goal of a 4 hour marathon but also the $40,000.
So once again, I ask all of you to take a minute and consider the following:
- Have I passed on the message of Saving Teens In Crisis Collaborative to everyone I know with my personal recommendation?
- Have I personally contacted the appropriate person at my employer about sponsoring the run and impressed on them the importance of what we are doing?
- Have I seriously considered other ways that I can contribute to the success of STICC and this event?
For all your support I thank you. I am honored to represent you in this small attempt to substantively impact some families.
Please help us save some more teens in crisis! If you would like to contribute or have your company become a corporate sponsor go to the website at

Best regards,
John Rueben
