Since 1980, The SALT Center has been dedicated to assisting students with learning and attention challenges and helping them succeed at The UA and beyond. Our staff of 11 Strategic Learning Specialists and more than 100 tutors develops productive relationships with our student population of approximately 550. At SALT we strive to help each of our students become a more confident learner and ultimately a more successful person. Within our diverse array of student programs and services, at SALT we provide individualized educational planning for each student based on their unique strengths and weaknesses, assistive technology to increase competence in academic activities, and many workshops where students learn from each other in a collaborative environment.
Although we just started the 2007 school year our entire staff is already excited about reviewing applications and admitting our class of 2008. We began receiving applications for the 2008 school year on August 1st. This will be my first academic year serving as the Assistant Director for Admissions & Outreach at SALT. I have worked at the UA since 2002 and have had the opportunity during that time to work with students on an individual basis and in the classroom. In addition to working at the university I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from The UA. From all of my experiences I can comfortably state that this institution provides students with an unmatched opportunity to learn and grow. Further The SALT Center allows students with learning and attention challenges to succeed at the UA while receiving individualized academic support.
The Admissions Team at The SALT Center has placed a high priority on outreach during the coming year. We will be represented at many national college fairs this year and plan on visiting with counseling teams in many Arizona high schools. In the fall semester we will be attending the following national college fairs and conferences:
