A CE Seminar will be collectively presented by Rogers Memorial Hospital and the University of Wisconsin on: Understanding and Treating Excessive Health Anxiety, Friday, August 14, 2009 from 8:15 am to 4:30 pm. Early registration deadline for this event is July 10, 2009. Cost: $150.00 or with early registration discount: $100.00.
This seminar reviews current knowledge about the etiology, assessment, case formulation, and treatment of excessive health anxiety, with a particular emphasis on hypochondriasis, one of the most clinically challenging forms of health anxiety
Cognitive-behavioral interventions and promising new approaches, such as motivational interviewing methods will be discussed. Participants will have the opportunity to develop a cognitive-behavioral case formulation and treatment plan and role-play from brief video clinical vignettes. Group participation is strongly encouraged. The seminar also includes research reviews and the opportunity to share clinical experiences in terms of treatment challenges and possible solutions. The material covered is appropriate for entry, intermediate, and advanced practitioners, but is primarily targeted at the latter two levels.
Presenter for this series is Gordon J. G. Asmundson, Ph.D., R. D. Psych, who is currently a Full Professor of Psychology at the University of Regina, an Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan, a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Investigator and has a small private practice. He has published more than 220 journal articles and book chapters and is actively involved in clinical research and clinical research supervision.
