The January thaw has hit Rock Point. The snow has melted and the ground is wet, more redolent of April than January. Even though we know that the winter will be back with all its snowy force by the weekend, we cannot help but think of summer as we start to plan the Rock Point School summer session for 2013. The six week program runs from Sunday 7th July to Saturday 17th August and is split into two three week sessions.

Last year's summer session was a great success, attracting 12 students to participate in morning classes that focused on study and research skills through an English curriculum. In the afternoons, students were able to explore our beautiful property on the shores of Lake Champlain, sail, swim, participate in arts and crafts, visit downtown Burlington and join community services opportunities from running lemonade stands to parking cars at an outdoor music festival. In short, it was a fun filled summer where students solidified academic skills and forged new social and personal connections.

The program is open to young people who need a small, structured community based on relationships and clear consequences in order to be successful both in the class room and in the world. We are currently accepting applications for the summer session 2013. More information is available at our website at www.rockpoint.org or call Kate McKernan at 802-863-1104, or email her at kmckernan@rockpoint.org.

Space also available in all classes for the current academic year.

Rock Point School is a coeducational boarding and day school, serving 40 students in grades 9 through 12, who are creative and self-aware, yet find themselves off track personally and/or academically and are ready to make positive changes.
