Dear Friends:

We are honored to have been profiled in Vermont Magazine this month. In its 4 pages, the article gives a wonderful overview of Rock Point School, which has been serving students who have not found success in traditional schools for over 80 years. Some things have changed through the years (hair styles and cell phones), but we have not moved from our mission to provide a small, supportive, educational community for teenage girls and boys, where they can become successful students and learn skills for living in a community with peers and adults. The school is committed to providing the educational, cultural, spiritual, and recreational opportunities necessary to accomplish these goals.

We are also very lucky to be living in such an amazing place. Autumn in Vermont is a remarkably beautiful time of year. Students are enjoying the harvest- picking apples, making cider, collecting pumpkins, and hiking in the woods full of colorful foliage. The sun still shines and we are soaking in the warmth of the season.

Last week, 12 educational consultants joined us at Rock Point, during the Vermont Fall Foliage Tour (a chance to see 9 schools and programs throughout Vermont). What a great time to travel through Vermont and take in the foliage. It was also a great opportunity to highlight the academic and personal work of the students at Rock Point. Some students have been with us for years, some just started during our summer session or in September. They are getting back on track with their work, learning to organize and manage their time, becoming self-advocates, taking on leadership tasks, developing friendships, and feeling good about themselves. After the Tour, Consultants shared in their evaluations that the school feels warm and friendly, the staff are passionate about their work, the boundaries set with students are clear and supportive, and the students are honest and lovely. One consultants shared, when asked if she would consider recommending a student to Rock Point, "Most definitely. I was very impressed by the students and the staff. The environment is one which fosters learning, emotional growth, and community."

If you have never been to Rock Point School, please consider a visit. Every season is beautiful here! And if you have a student who may be well-served in a small, supportive, nurturing school, please give me a call. We have room in our classes and welcome late arrivers.

Enjoy the bounty of the season-
Hillary
