It is an exciting time, full of change, at Rock Point School. As most of you now know, John Rouleau, the current Headmaster, will be retiring after giving 40 years of his heart, soul, and wisdom to Rock Point School. The board and staff knew that they needed to carefully plan for the next era of the school. Part of this process was to conduct an open, national search for the next Head of School, with a commitment to keep the core mission of the school intact, while allowing the school to flourish and strengthen.

Rock Point School is thrilled to announce that at the end of the process, it was clear that the best candidate was right here at the school. CJ Spirito has been appointed the new Headmaster, to take office on July 1, 2011. As John Rouleau shared, "When I look at how the school has evolved and improved over the years, I am willing to take credit for some portion of the change, but I see CJ's fingerprints everywhere I look. For 21 years, he has shown excellence as a dorm parent, Dean of Students, and Assistant Headmaster, and I see him continuing his career as School Head in the same pathway. CJ is thoughtful, patient, inclusive, and committed to seeing the mission of the school played out in every student's life, in as many ways as possible. The school is in very good hands."

In CJ's words: "Being a member of Rock Point School has always been a gift. Rock Point is a rewarding and energetic place to be. I feel excited to have been chosen to lead the school as we grow into the challenges ahead. I will bring the same labor of love, commitment, and competency to my work as Headmaster, as I have to all of my work here so far. It has been an honor, and a whole lot of fun, to work with John Rouleau and watch him build bridges with so many people. He has been a great mentor and friend. I am eager to continue strengthening the momentum that he has built."

Congratulations, CJ!

Rock Point School is a co-ed boarding school, with a small day program for students ages 14-19 and in grades 9 through 12, who have gotten off track both personally and academically. Rock Point School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, is a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools, the VT Independent Schools Association of Northern New England and the National Association of Independent Schools.
