Red Oak Recovery, a clinically intensive, adventure-based, drug and alcohol-treatment program for young adults, has announced the promotion of Maureen MacConnell, MSN, PMHNP-BC, APRN, MA Clinical Psych, to Executive Director of Clinical Services. MacConnell joined Red Oak earlier this year as Program Director of The Willows women's program.

"We are so fortunate to have Maureen on our team," said Red Oak Recovery Chief Executive Officer, Jack Kline, MS, LPCS, LCAS, CCS. "Her education and experience raise the bar of clinical sophistication with our integrated care model for dual diagnosis clients."

MacConnell graduated from Yale University School of Nursing with a Master of Science in Nursing and a specialization in Family Psychiatric Mental Health. She is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a specialist in clinical psychology, psychiatric mental health and nursing, substance abuse counseling, and family psychiatry.

MacConnell's accomplished background complements Red Oak's clinical approach to meet the unique developmental, emotional, and educational needs of young adults. In addition to clinical treatment, service projects and experiential wilderness therapies like backpacking, white water rafting, and rock climbing, Red Oak clients receive a minimum of 20 hours of clinician-led sessions (which include 3-4 individual sessions), as well as psycho-educational, topic-focused, 12-Step group and individual sessions each week.

Red Oak Recovery is located in the pristine Blue Ridge Mountains, just north of Asheville, NC, and is the result of extensive experience and research to develop a highly effective program that creates a foundation of long-term recovery for young adults. The program uniquely blends quality clinical care, adventure therapy, experiential therapy, 12-step work and social skills development to create positive, lasting change.
