Red Oak Recovery announced they have appointed Heather Schnoebelen, MA, LPC, LCAS, CCS-I, as Executive Director of Clinical Services. Schnoebelen will help implement Red Oak's clinically dynamic treatment program. She will serve as the program's Executive Director of Clinical Services as well as one of the Partners with Jack Kline and Mark Oerther.

Schnoebelen, a 14-year wilderness-therapy and recovery veteran, was drawn to Red Oak's innovative Ecotherapy™ approach which combines the best elements of wilderness therapy, clinically based addictions treatment, and holistic recovery.

"Red Oak's Clinically Dynamic approach is unique and allows for us to meet each client where they are," said Schnoebelen. Ecotherapy™ is designed around short-term wilderness journeys that foster a high level of self-efficacy in a compressed time-frame. This allows time for campus-based recovery elements that include yoga, nutritional therapy, and a seed-to-plate dining program where clients learn to grow and cook their own food. "We're able to do all of this and still offer the robust clinical support of a clinical addictions-treatment program," said Schnoebelen. Clients receive a minimum of 16 hours of clinician-led sessions per week-14 hours of group work and two hours of individual sessions.

"We're thrilled to have Heather on the team," said Red Oak co-founder, Jack Kline, MS, LPC, LPCS, LCAS, CCS. "She brings a dynamic clinical approach to recovery and a well-earned national reputation as a top recovery expert and therapist. She also shares our commitment to holistic recovery and to the philosophy that adventure based therapy-especially in treatment-should be viewed as something to connect with and learn from rather than to conquer."

Schnoebelen is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and licensed clinical addictions specialist (LCAS). She earned her Master's degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Wilderness Therapy from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. Her clinical work with families, adolescents, and young adults has included the design and launch of two successful wilderness-based addiction-treatment programs. Schnoebelen describes her clinical approach as "person-centered and humanistic, utilizing evidenced-based interventions in conjunction with the natural world."

Schoebelen is a true lover of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where the wilderness is "lush, green, and inviting-truly a place to heal." In her spare time, Heather enjoys her own outdoor adventures and working on the land with her family.

Red Oak Recovery is an adventure-based drug and alcohol-treatment program for young adults, ages 18 - 30.
