Dr. Kreg Gillman, founder and former director of Silverado Academy, has joined RedCliff Ascent. Kreg is recognized within the therapeutic industry for his depth of experience and skill in working with troubled adolescents.
Kreg earned his doctorate in psychology from Brigham Young University. He has worked extensively in residential and wilderness therapy milieus, including Provo Canyon School and programs operated by the Aspen Education Group.
With almost two decades of experience as a therapist and administrator, Kreg has joined RedCliff and is back to his roots as a therapist. He will work primarily with RedCliff's adolescent population, but is also available to work with students in the Medicine Wheel young adult group.
"My passion is working with difficult and challenging family dynamics; I enjoy the work with the parents and the opportunity to not just help the adolescent, but to effect significant changes in the family. Over the years, and as an administrator, I typically end up dealing with the most difficult mothers and fathers; I appreciate the therapeutic leverage inherent in wilderness and residential settings. As a therapist, it's my job to help parents understand what's happening in the family while their child is in therapy, not just guiding the student receiving the treatment or the 'identified patient'."
Kreg adds, "Having worked in residential for all of these years, some of the best prepared students have been from RedCliff. RedCliff has held true to the original underpinnings of what make wilderness treatment so powerful and effective. "
