The young men of The Journey WV have a new home! The Old Mill Campus that was recently acquired by Q&A Family of Programs, now is home to our Journey WV clients as well as our Cabin Mountain clients.

The staff and clients of The Journey WV have experienced great loss in recent months. Giving them an opportunity to increase a sense of community and connection is one of the reasons we have moved their home to our new amazing Old Mill Campus. This campus and all it has to offer will help them cultivate new relationships, contribute to the growth and development of the farmstead, and gain skills toward growth and independence.

The Old Mill Campus consists of approximately 11 acres that run along the Dry Fork River in Harman, WV. There are four buildings on the property as well as farmland and garden spaces. There is a large farmhouse, a working gristmill, a retreat center, and a cabin on the property. The entire property has been listed on the Register of Historic Places.

As winter melts into spring, we will be developing the garden spaces, moving goats, chickens and horses to the property, and working to get the gristmill (aptly named the Old Mill) open to the public. In the late 1980's and early 1990's, the Old Mill was operated as an interactive museum. Powered by the original water turbine, the large grindstones produced fine quality flour and meal, which was sold in the second floor gift shop along with textiles produced on a large loom that remains at the Mill. It is our intention to bring the Old Mill Museum back to life. The young men of the Journey will have the opportunity to learn vital skills as they help restore the Old Mill and create the storefront space where both clients and staff can sell their products such as jewelry, stained glass, pottery, crafts and textiles.

We would love to have you come visit and see the new campus!!

Please contact Audrey Peavey for more information and/or to set up a tour!

Sincerely,

Angie Shockley
