Field Director
Description:
Pure Life is currently seeking applicants for a Wilderness Therapy Field Director in Costa Rica. A Field Director is responsible for overseeing all field operations, specifically with respect to field staff support and client management in the field. This position reports directly to the Program Director and Executive Director. A Pure Life Field Director will be responsible for managing a young adult co-ed milieu with a multi-cultural staff. An ability to speak spanish is strongly preferred. Field Directors are in charge of supervising field guides, managing schedules, hiring, staff training, crisis response and prevention, policy development, and direct care of clients. This position requires a residency in the Central Pacific Region of Costa Rica. This position requires flexibility, relocation, sound decision making abilities, and office management skills.
This is a full time position with a minimum commitment of two years, preferably three.
Responsibilities:- Field guide training, oversight, and management
- Hiring and managing field instructors
- Field guide wage evaluations, performance evaluations, corrective actions, guide advancement and professional development.
- Minimum of 2 days of field visits per week with no more than 5 days in between visits
- Prepare weekly field reports regarding consumer conditions, consumer and staff interactions, document compliance with policies and procedures and accreditation requirements.
- Field liaison to the Clinical Team
- Attend all Field Department meetings
- Other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Assistant Program Director, the Program Director, and the Executive Team
- Ability to respond to crisis and enforce emergency protocols - including the ability to work some weekends as necessary
- Assist with logistics, enrollments, and other office duties as needed
Skills Required:- Motivated, energetic, and detailed/organized, and a quick learner.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Have demonstrated leadership and problem solving abilities.
- Have outdoor experience
- Management experience
Requirements:- Minimum of 2 years of outdoor youth program field experience or experiential education
- Wilderness First Responder Certification with CPR (In-field medical experience & knowledge of backcountry evacuations preferred)
- Completed initial 80 hour staff training outlined in Utah Administrative Code R501-8-8
- Background check through the State of Utah (BCI)
- Driver's License
- Driver's Record
- Successfully pass a drug screening
- Demonstrate complete knowledge and understanding of relevant state licensing rules for Outdoor Youth Programs
- Minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours education in recreational therapy or related field, or one year outdoor youth program field experience.
- BA or BS degree or equal training and experience in a related field
- Be on call 24/7 for field emergencies & logistics unless other coverage is coordinated
If offered a position there will be an in-field training phase that involves in the field training including, direct care of clients, and logistical support. The training phase could last anywhere from three to six months.
