The Pinnacle Schools has been awarded an increase in its license capacity at the Elk River campus from forty-eight (48) residents to sixty (60) residents. In a letter from the State of Alabama Department of Youth Services, Director of Licensing and Standards Robert Matthews wrote:
"In reviewing the information you have made on the improvements in the physical plant it appears that you can accommodate the twelve bed capacity increase. Your staff pattern is impressive. With all considered, your request of a capacity increase is approved, however, your success in providing excellent service to the youth you serve is a determining factor to this capacity increase."
Founded in 2005, The Pinnacle Schools Elk River Program (ERTP) is a Hospital without Walls, according to CEO and Founder Karen Lee. "Our medical model provides diagnostic, assessment and treatment services on a base campus which allows us to offer Physician-Directed Medication Management." ERTP also offers year-round accredited academics. "We take seriously the motto of 'no child left behind.' Adolescents do not need the additional stress of falling behind academically while they are in treatment," Ms. Lee said.
Congratulations to the ERTP staff for an outstanding job in caring for troubled youth. For more information about the Pinnacle Schools, please visit the website at
