Penrith Farms Therapeutic Community for Young Adults recently had three of their students graduate from high school, two of which earned college credits through Running Start. With their successful high school re-entry program and high completion rate, Penrith has seen many of their graduates attend college directly after graduation.

For one student, in addition to graduating high school, he earned the leading role in the Community Theatre group's rendition of Gilbert and Sullivan's musical "The Sorcerer."
"The exposure to the craft and the community was great," said the student, "It created an appreciation for the crowd and gave me confidence knowing an audience was there to see me perform. I wanted to give them a great show." It inspired the student to seek an outlet for his love of theatre and hopes to join a community theatre group when he resettles after graduating from Penrith Farms later this month.

Many Penrith students are also enrolled at the local community college, working towards their general university requirements while looking at alternatives to life after Penrith. One Penrith student is currently enrolled in training to be a Certified Nurse's Assistant, as part of his plan to support himself through Radiology school.

Part of Penrith's success is the opportunity for students to be involved in the surrounding community. This schools year's students participated in coaching soccer and volunteering at the local elementary school as aides. One student said he loved working with the kids and that it made him feel younger himself, and actually piqued his interest in teaching.
