Passages To Recovery

Passages To Recovery is a wilderness recovery program for men and women ages 18-28. They use a holistic approach to the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction. The program integrates the philosophy of the 12-Steps with traditional therapy and the healing power of the wilderness.

Passages To Recovery has a flexible length of stay, averaging 28-50 days, where students participate in over twenty education groups which explore the dimensions of recovery such as stages of addiction, relapse prevention, neuro-biological basis for addiction, relationships and recovery, recovery and spirituality, prayer and meditation, eating for recovery, exercise and recovery and sober lifestyles. These groups “encourage student involvement and open discussion of their issues. In the wilderness, the students begin to study the AA Big Book, work the Steps, and participate in daily AA/NA meetings.

The treatment team at Passages To Recovery includes highly skilled therapists, wilderness guides and counseling staff with personal 12- Step recovery experience. Traditional therapeutic interventions such as individual and group therapy are complemented with backpacking, sweat lodges, vision quests and primitive living skills. Passages assists students in confronting their fears, inner demons and addictions in a supportive emotionally safe milieu.” Daily therapeutic and educational groups foster empowered, sober living.
