Pacific Quest Wilderness Therapy conducted its first ever alumni event on the East Coast this summer. Led by Pacific Quest's Alumni and Family Relations Director, Alicia Goldman, the gathering focused on reconnecting families that share a very powerful bond with each other and how the Pacific Quest program philosophy of Sustainable Growth has impacted their life. Six families, each of which had a son or daughter at Pacific Quest, gathered together with one prospective family and a former student to share their experience and hope.

"The event was amazing", shared Alicia, the families did not know each other, but connected in a very deep and meaningful way. It's wonderful to see how well everyone is doing and we will certainly be holding more events all over the country." The gathering will allow the families to support each and stay connected locally on an ongoing basis.

Over the past seven years, Pacific Quest Wilderness Therapy has worked with nearly 600 struggling children and young adults in environments that allow them to make discoveries in safe, structured, experimental and natural ways.

Alicia Goldman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received her Master's in Social Work from Yeshiva University's Wurzweiler School of Social Work in New York. She has accumulated over 15 years of clinical experience working in a variety of settings that serve children and families.

"The alumni event is a very valuable tool for families to talk about what is working and what's not working," added Alicia. "Pacific Quest is often just one piece of a long-term, progressive treatment plan that includes structure and accountability. This is a safe place for families to discuss anything and everything." In addition, other topics included the growth of Pacific Quest, including the opening of the new young adult program and the
importance of using educational consultants for long term success.

This program offers a clinical, yet holistic approach to treatment, going beyond traditional wilderness therapy and teaching sustainable life skills.

Their proprietary therapeutic model is a ground breaking approach that uses organic gardening to create concrete metaphors for its students as they cultivate their own health and happiness. Pacific Quest provides an environment that allows for a true discovery process for its students, a place that is safe, structured, experiential and natural. Owned and operated by a veteran team of professionals with hundreds of years of combined wilderness program experience, Pacific Quest offers a unique approach to treatment that is individualized for each student.

Pacific Quest is an outdoor therapeutic program for struggling teens and young adults, located on the Big Island of Hawaii.
