Pacific Child & Family Assoc. Launches #ACT4Autism Campaign

Pacific Child & Family Associates (PCFA), a provider of behavior analysis services for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, has launched the #ACT4Autism campaign, a viral campaign to show support for individuals with autism and their families. While the prevalence of autism is growing, many families are still silently struggling in the privacy of their homes with the challenges that autism places upon families. More and more, the news is highlighting these battles - including bullying, murder, financial, physical and emotional - and it is time for this to stop. With #ACT4Autism, families can unite by sharing stories of hope while calling on others to participate in the viral drive for encouragement, comfort, help, support and unity.

"The term 'autism' wasn't coined until the early 1910s when it was connected to symptoms of schizophrenia. Many people aren't aware of just how recent autism has entered scientific history and how far the autism community has come in the past century. However, even with significant advancements, families often feel isolated with struggles when dealing with a loved one on the spectrum and in need of meaningful support," said Mark Dorenfeld, CEO of PCFA. "Our goal with #ACT4Autism and at Pacific Child & Family Associates is to offer the autism community an outlet for finding and sharing ideas and encouragement in their journey. With this campaign, we ask you to share the #ACT4Autism hashtag to show how or why you 'act for autism,' by sharing stories of hope, and encourage others to join the movement. With #ACT4Autism, families are not alone."

PCFA is kicking off the campaign today by asking those impacted by autism to post the #ACT4Autism hashtag on their social media pages along with how or why they "act for autism," what autism means to them, or by showing support for a family member or friend with autism. Participants can also post photos of themselves with the #ACT4Autism hashtag written out or you can share the social messages used on Pacific Family & Child Associates' social media pages.

By asking others to participate by posting their own experiences and support, #ACT4Autism will unite individuals and families across the country while promoting acceptance among peers, awareness of autism, and lessening the challenging moments these families face. It is with a united movement such as #ACT4Autism that we can have the power to continue growing opportunities for these individuals in society.
