Open Sky's commitment to providing the most clinically sophisticated treatment in the industry led to the addition of two full-time psychologists, Dr. Fred Peipman and Dr. Jamie Scoular. Both are licensed and have extensive clinical experience working with teens, young adults and families. "We are so excited to have Dr. Peipman and Dr. Scoular join our clinical team as direct care therapists. They are both excellent clinicians, passionate about the population with whom we work. Plus, they are all-around great people!" says Emily Demong, LCSW, Open Sky's clinical director.

Dr. Fred Peipman's background in family practice and neuropsychological testing brings a depth and knowledge regarding the complex clinical issues facing our adolescent and young adult clients. In addition to his work as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Peipman has worked in college counseling and has lectured nationally and internationally on various clinical topics. Dr. Peipman's clinical specialties include mindfulness-based therapy, family therapy, and health psychology. Dr. Peipman earned his PhD in counseling psychology at the University of Miami with undergraduate and graduate degrees from Yale University and the University of Bridgeport, respectively. At Open Sky, Dr. Peipman will be working primarily with adolescent girls and young adults.

Like several of the clinical team members and founders at Open Sky, Dr. Jamie Scoular's initial foray into wilderness therapy was as a field guide in the 1990s, an experience that inspired him to return for his doctorate in psychology. Dr. Scoular has worked with young people and families in a variety of settings, including as a school psychologist as well as clinical director of a psychiatric hospital. Dr. Scoular's approach is most influenced by cognitive behavioral therapy, specializing in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and trauma and also incorporating dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy. Dr. Jamie Scoular earned his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Maine with an emphasis in forensics. Dr. Scoular will be heading up an adolescent boys' team at Open Sky.

Open Sky's holistic wilderness therapy program is the most comprehensive and clinically sophisticated wilderness therapy program in the industry, and the only one that is supported by continuous outcome-based research. Open Sky sets the standard in the industry and employs the widest range of empirically supported interventions for young adults and adolescents in crisis.
