One Change Group, a non-profit organization, believes "parents are the best teachers for their children", therefore has become a new resource for parents and families struggling with maintaining a healthy relationship; offering parent education workshops to anyone with children in their lives (parents, grandparents, guardians etc.) with the primary focus on communication, conflict resolution, boundaries, rule setting and consequences. With the focus on stopping what is not working in the household, One Change Group teaches parenting techniques and self reflective exercises that assist in re-establishing the appropriate balance of power in the home. The conflict resolution and communication techniques taught go hand in hand and allow for positive, clear, healthy communication to once again flow in the household.
One Change Group originally started as One Change Enterprise in 2008, conducting workshops with therapeutic boarding schools. In 2010, they expanded their services to parents and families across the country. One Change Group was co-founded by Kevin Lewis, LCPC, who has worked with teens and their families for 20 years and is currently the Director of Elk Mountain Academy in Heron, MT. In addition, Mike is the co-author of the book, "The Teen Whisperer". Jodie Redding, also a co-founder, has worked with struggling teens and their families for 14 years, has developed and led workshops to support and educated parents; in addition, Jodie is a life coach and mentor, leading weekly groups for teens in the local community enrichment programs. Kevin Lewis, another co-founder of One Change, facilitates the workshops and is the author of the workbook and curriculum used in the Real Change Workshops. A new member to the team is Amy Topp, who is the Director of Communications and is the friendly voice on the other end of the telephone line.
