The Oakley School is excited to announce dynamic additions to our program!

As the world of adolescents gets increasingly more complex and the needs of students continue to evolve, we are evolving also. By adding to our current program we believe we will better serve college bound students.

We analyzed what our students needed to excel in an ever changing world. Next, we analyzed what services we needed to increase to better meet the need, and finally we analyzed how we could deliver these services most effectively.

We are not altering our mission, the profile of student we take, or the nature of the philosophical approach we have with kids. We will always work with college bound students who need real world experiences and family interaction to help them overcome adolescent challenges. Instead, the additions offer us more flexibility and creativity in finding ways to reach our students.

The biggest additions center on three areas, Clinical Services, Academic Services and Experiential Education Services.

Clinically, we now hold individual and family sessions every week. In the past these sessions would alternate every other week. Now students will have both individual and family therapy every week. We believe this increased contact can only be beneficial to the therapeutic alliance.

Academically, we will now hold classes five days a week, not four. This is an increase of some twenty percent in class time for our students. We believe this extra time will help us better prepare students academically for their future endeavors in college or another school. Additionally, the increase will allow us to offer students five credit earning opportunities which will allow for more flexibility in filling in transcript gaps. Finally, many of our students come to us with learning differences such as lower processing speed, ADHD or executive function issues. By increasing class time and an increased emphasis on teacher training, we can meet the needs of these students more effectively than ever before. We will also continue to offer over forty different academic classes including honors and AP curriculum.

Experientially, we will hold our module program on Saturdays and Sundays. This will give our students more structure on Sundays, and still allow them to experience our dynamic module classes. With this change, free time will be offered over the course of the week; it will just be spread out more evenly instead of in a block of time on Sunday.

Contractually, we are also altering our language. No longer will students be committed for a set period of time regardless of progress. Instead, we will challenge our students to grow and learn and let their progress determine their length of stay. We recognize that every student coming into Oakley School has an individual set of needs, abilities and challenges. To meet the individual needs of every student, Oakley will move to a treatment centered/objective based completion that will allow us to truly develop a customized plan for every student.

By increasing our services and altering our completion criteria, we believe we will be better able to serve the individual needs of your students. We welcome any questions or feedback you may have, please do not hesitate to call myself or our Admissions team at 435-783-5001.

Sincerely,
James Meyer
Executive Director
