OPI Announces JCAHO Accreditation

After years of hard work by our staff and administration, OPI has been provisionally accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Health Organizations (JCAHO). JCAHO accredits hospitals and other behavioral and health organizations nationally.

"We believe we are the first program of our kind in the nation to receive this honor and we have a huge sense of pride and accomplishment" said Jessica Breton, OPI Program Director. "The biggest challenge in the long review process was interpreting JCAHO's expectations and jillions of standards, so we applied OPI's unique objectives in the "real world". The culture of our organization has now shifted and we have now shifted so many changes in our Policies and Procedures. Plus it was important to our team that they get this objective feedback and recognition for all the hard work they do".

In addition to this great news, we are pleased to announce Jennifer Bell Martin, MS, is our new Director of Career Services. Jennifer worked in a number of College Career Services Departments and is an expert at helping our young adults gain skills and build a solid foundation for career development and life planning.

Some of the jobs and internships our young adults have participated in include:

• A math researcher at California State University Northridge


• An assistant webmaster at Monterrey Media


• Employment at CGV Movie Theater with plans to move up through their management levels


• One who plans on becoming a math professor, has applied to become a math tutor


• Two participants work at Solstice Sunglass Boutique

Internships our young adults are participating in include:

• A film intern


• Interning at the Ronald Reagan Library


• Internship at Young Hollywood, doing celebrity blogs and interviews

Our participants also volunteer in several community service organizations including:

• Working with the seniors at Sunrise Assisted Living


• The local animal rescue organization


• The Los Angeles food bank


• Volunteering at the Tropical Daze Festival


• Fundraising for Neurofibromatosis
