NorthStar Center, the young adult transitional living program located in Bend, Oregon, is pleased to announce the addition of Scott Schreiner, MSW, LCSW as therapist and Ramona Berman, MS, LADC, CADC II as substance abuse counselor.

Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, after having served in the U.S. Navy for several years as a surface warfare officer. He then went on to earn his Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University and has been working with families and young people in a variety of settings, mostly in the field of addictions, for the past 16 years. Scott joins the NorthStar clinical team as therapist to the Newport House students along with his black Labrador, Chester, a licensed therapy dog. Previously, they worked in Northwest Montana at a therapeutic boarding school for troubled youth. Originally from Upstate New York and Vermont, Scott has a passion for meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. It is this passion for people and life that Scott brings to his work with young people as he seeks to help them rise above the challenges they face and live more fulfilling lives.

Ramona earned her Master of Science in Community Psychology from Springfield College in Manchester, New Hampshire. She is near completion of her dissertation for her PhD in Philosophy of Psychology. Ramona has worked in substance abuse for more than 20 years and specializes in working with adolescents.

NorthStar Center, a program of Aspen Education Group and division of CRC Health, is a transitional living program specializing in assisting young adults ages 17.5-24 years with substance abuse recovery. All NorthStar students receive personal academic assistance, individual and group counseling, and ongoing support in becoming responsible young adults. The program stresses recovery, responsibility and recreation to challenge students to think for themselves. For more information about NorthStar Center, visit www.northstarcenter.com.
