The Next 28 is a sober community for women who are transitioning from a residential treatment center back to their homes. They provide the next step in early recovery to assist newly sober women in establish what will be for them a "new normal." This one month to three month program is for women recovering from drugs and alcohol and provides intensive recovery work through structure and counseling.
Jane Wilkey and Michael Colloca are the Directors of this program.
Next 28 staff does this with a highly structured environment, meeting intensive strategy and with the companionship of other recovering women. They address the stresses of everyday life and provide extensive relapse prevention counseling. Whether going home means reuniting with spouses and children, back to an empty nest, living with parents or going back to school, The Next 28 presents a foundation to women in recovery which enables them to live their new normal - life without drugs and alcohol.
Traditional 12-step meetings take place at a local church and counseling and group meetings help the women in establishing a new normal of sober living. In this structured living, the women gain basic life skills, responsibility, and accountability. They learn to give of themselves through community service. With a strict set of house rules, the women work together preparing healthy meals and participate in the clean up throughout the house, all working and supporting each other in sobriety.
