New Vision Wilderness is pleased to announce the addition of Jacob Thomason MA, an adolescent boys therapist with experience treating co-occurring disorders to the North Woods, Wisconsin location. We are thrilled to welcome Jacob to our family. His experience in substance abuse and trauma blends nicely with our population, said Co Founder and Chief Clinical Officer Steve Sawyer.

Mr. Thomason earned a Bachelor's Degree in Human Relations from Atlanta Christian College and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College in Illinois. After graduating, Mr. Thomason worked as a wilderness therapist at Passages to Recovery in Utah and as a therapist for Foundations House extended care program in Maine. "I am excited to join the NVW team and have the opportunity to work with such a talented group of professionals", said Mr. Thomason.

Besides his five years of experience working as a wilderness therapist Jacob has held several different positions as an outdoor/ adventure guide. His work with substance abuse includes a non-judgmental approach to help students accept responsibility for their past actions and create their own vision for moving forward. He believes in utilizing the challenges of the wilderness to build confidence in those who are struggling to identify personal strengths and growth areas.

"Having worked with clients at NVW for the past few months, I have seen the results of the program's unique blend of wilderness immersion and a robust clinical approach. This experience coupled with my work at the primary and continuing care levels of care provides me with a unique perspective on treatment. I am energized, full of passion and ready to provide a safe and healing experience for all our students and families", exclaimed Jacob.

On September 17th Jacob and his wife Kelsey became first time, proud parents of a healthy baby girl named Irelyn Paige Thomason (7lbs 13oz). Jacob can be reached at 715-965-4717 or jthomason@nvwild.com.
