New Campus Construction At New Summit Academy

The time has finally arrived! After a couple of years of permits and paperwork, we can actually see the footprint of what will be the new campus for New Summit Academy! Hopefully, depending on how well the rainy season treats us, we will be moving in by early 2012. We are very excited about this opportunity to enjoy a space that is specially-designed for NSA student and staff needs.

Here is what to expect:

Campus Location: The campus is 6-7 acres of beautiful farmland about 1km from the center of town. There are old mango trees as well as a variety of younger fruit trees (papaya, oranges, water apples, etc.) that our students have been planting over the past three years.

Administrative Building: There will be an upgraded kitchen, large open-air dining area, several offices and meeting spaces, a medical office, and Aventura equipment storeroom. There will also be a second floor deck for student meetings and wrap up groups.

Classroom Building: Four classrooms will envelop a large open-air classroom in the middle of the building.

Student Dorms:We are building eight dorms for up to four students each. Every pair of dorms will share a college-suite style utility area, including multiple toilet stalls, showers, sinks and a washer/dryer set as well as a mud room sink and "airing out" area for shoes, Aventura gear and sym clothes.

Student Club House: The existing farm house will be remodeled into a club house with therapist offices, phone call areas, an electronics storage room, a student kitchen, TV/media area, computer lab and a large roofed terrace for hte pool table, ping pong table and other games.

Neighborhood: Our new neighborhood hosts a soccer field (two blocks away), a local elementary school (one block away), local residences, farms and a local orphanage. We are close to the center of town (about 1km) while also keeping our "country feel" to the campus.

New Summit Academy Costa Rica is a therapeutic boarding school for males, ages 15-17 years old, entering grades 10-12. NSA students are interested in attending college yet struggle with motivation, decision making, and self confidence or are struggling with family dynamics.
