New Lifestyles is pleased to announce that upon completion of their internships on July 31, 2009, the following individuals received their doctoral degree and will continue with advanced training as postdoctoral residents at New Lifestyles:
Kristina Luna, PsyD obtained her doctorate degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania. She holds a Master of Arts degree from Drexel University/MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Keuka College. She defended an empirical dissertation in December 2007 on the physiological effects of hypnosis and is currently seeking publication in a professional journal. Previous work settings include community mental health centers, a college counseling center, and a rehabilitation hospital for children. In these settings, Dr. Luna has worked with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, anger, personality disorders, eating disorders, and issues relating to transition. In addition to her clinical work, she was trained in the Safe Zone Project, an effort to improve visibility and support to GLBT students and employees at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Kirk Duncan, PsyD, was awarded his doctorate degree from George Washington University. He has a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and history of science from St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland. Previous work experience includes providing psychodynamic therapy to a culturally and clinically diverse population of individuals in public schools, the judicial system, and a mental health clinic. He has also conducted psychological and educational assessments with children and adults. Additionally, he has teaching experience with students on the Autism Spectrum.
