It is with mixed emotions that we celebrate with Dr. Dan Villiers the next steps in his impressive career, most notably the founding of Mountain Valley Treatment Center, as he embarks on a new and exciting venture. Dr. Villiers will be starting his own intervention service in the next few months, expanding his unique ability to help adolescents and young adults make that leap to seek specialized help for their treatment needs. While Dr. Villiers will continue his affiliation with Mountain Valley, providing in-home interviews and the supportive admissions service that he created and which makes Mountain Valley unique, he will also be available to support youth and families in alternative contexts.
In 2011, Dr. Villiers developed a vision to establish a specialized residential treatment program focusing on serving adolescents and young adults with debilitating anxiety and OCD. Dan's personal story of being paralyzed by anxiety as a teen, coupled with his professional work treating clients with anxiety and OCD, made him keenly aware of the need for such a program. With the assistance of the Becket Family of Services, a nonprofit organization founded in 1964, Mountain Valley Treatment Center opened its doors with Dr. Villiers at the helm as Founder. In the following months and years, Dr. Villiers has helped solidify Mountain Valley as the premier and one-of-a-kind treatment program delivering exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP) within the unique context of its iconic New England environment. Without Dr. Villiers' dedication and tireless efforts over the past four years, Mountain Valley and its many clients would not be enjoying the success they currently do.
Dr. Villiers will continue his passion for helping families in need, providing consultation to educational consultants and clinical professionals, and remain active in his writing and speaking engagements, educating and supporting awareness of anxiety and the delivery of state of the art treatment protocols. His creative in-home intervention service will remain available to Mountain Valley through a continued affiliation. For matters involving Mountain Valley, Dr. Villiers will maintain his Mountain Valley email address and his current phone number, or can be reached by contacting the Mountain Valley admissions office. Otherwise, Dr. Villiers can be reached at 860-992-2453. On behalf of the staff, and hundreds of teens and families served since 2011, we wish him the best and thank him enthusiastically. Stay tuned for a celebration event announcement tied to an upcoming industry conference.
With warm regards,
Don Vardell Executive Director
