Dr. Fran Moriarty is a licensed psychologist with over two decades of experience treating children, adults, and families in a range of educational and mental health settings. His clinical expertise is primarily in the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia, Panic Disorder, PTSD, and mood disorders. He has a sub-specialty in working with children and families struggling with grief and loss, stress and trauma, and the related challenges associated with attachment. His psychotherapeutic approach is holistic and integrative. Dr. Moriarty applies a specific emphasis on CBT and interpersonal therapy for the treatment of anxiety, depression, and co-occurring substance use disorders. He comes to Mountain Valley with advanced training and experience in EMDR and exposure therapies for the treatment of trauma. He has trained and clinically supervised Doctoral and Masters level clinicians in both inpatient and outpatient settings throughout his career.

Dr. Moriarty has designed therapeutic programs focusing on addiction, anxiety disorders, PTSD and intergenerational trauma. He served as the Clinical Director at Bennington School, is the Co-founder and President of Great Expectations Educational Resources and the Manchester Village School and the Founder of Metta, Ltd, a practice in psychotherapy and mindfulness. He is a former Assistant Professor of Psychology at Springfield College and Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology at American International College. Dr. Moriarty has published empirical research on the value of mindfulness in the helping professions. He is trained in Mindfulness Base Stress Reduction (MSRB), Vipassana Meditation as taught by S. N. Goenka and Transcendental Meditation (TM). Dr. Moriarty is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the National Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (NACBT), the Anxiety and Depression Disorders Association of America (ADAA) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA). Dr. Moriarty is a graduate of Bridgewater State College. He was awarded his advanced degrees from American International College and performed his post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

Mountain Valley Treatment Center, located in New Hampshire, is a non-profit, short-term, co-educational residential program for adolescents struggling with anxiety and related disorders.
