The staff and students of Mountain Springs just returned from a 7-day trip to Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole. Highlights included visiting the hot springs in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; visiting Natural Bridge, Old Faithful, Inspiration Point, and upper and lower falls at Yellowstone, swimming in the boiling river at Yellowstone; boating on Jenny Lake and hiking the Grand Tetons; riding the Alpine slide at Jackson Hole; and finally taking a short whitewater rafting trip down the Snake River. Everyone reported having a very fun and safe trip!

Mountain Springs conducts several larger knowledge treks every year and can earn high school credit for attending! Our next trip is scheduled for mid-October traveling to Washington DC for a week. The emphasis will be on US history and Government and the trip will include such highlights as: the Whitehouse; tours of the Library of Congress, the Capitol, and the Supreme Court; visiting the Holocaust Museum, the Smithsonian, Arlington Cemetery, and the various memorials; and taking in a show at the Kennedy center.

Please contact Jon Larsen, Head of School, at 435-691-0245 if you have questions or visit our website at www.mountainspringsprep.com.

Mountain Springs Preparatory Academy is a co-ed transitional boarding school for adolescents ages 14-18. We specialize in helping student's step-down from a higher level of care (residential treatment or wilderness). Mountain Springs is designed as a practice environment where students have greater access to community involvement (through varsity athletics, University classes, employment/volunteering, and other extracurricular activities) and more opportunity to make choices. It is an experiential learning environment where students have the chance to bump up against challenges and learn from mistakes with mentoring and support. We utilize a strength-based and solution-focused approach. Mountain Springs provides a small, intimate environment with a highly individualized approach. Therapy is available off-site and the minimum length of stay is only 4 months!
