Kristie Campbell, CEP, Therapeutic Educational Consultant for Woodbury Reports recently visited Mt. Pleasant Academy in Mt. Pleasant, UT.
Mount Pleasant Academy is a non-profit Treatment Center designed to assist adolescents and families who may be struggling with compulsive sexual behaviors, sensitive sexual issues, and/or digital addictions. It is a 16 bed facility for males ranging from ages 12 - 18 years.
Mt. Pleasant Academy accepts boys who exhibit emotional and/or behavioral problems that prevent them from functioning adequately in their home or community.
Some of the typical problems the students exhibit may include: Academic Deficiencies,
Authority Problems, Defiance, Anger & Disrespect, Substance Abuse – Addictions, Sexual Compulsive Behaviors, Teen Runaways, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Sadness & Depression, Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Reactive Attachement Disorder (RAD), Self Harm and/or Self-defeating Behaviors.
During the visit, Kristie experienced components of the program first hand, including samples of low ropes course and equine therapy, interacted with the boys, and toured the facility. She also participated in a 3-hour class with Dr. Stephanie Carnes, who presented new research and treatment now available in the sexual addiction relm.
