Dear Friends of Montana Academy,

Three years ago, the four Founders of Montana Academy (Rosemary and John McKinnon and Carol and John Santa) began an orderly process of transferring oversight of the daily operations of the school. At that time, they established a Leadership Team composed of the directors of MA's therapeutic, academic, and direct care programs. A year later, I joined Montana Academy as an interim Head of School, taking over the management of the Leadership Team and general responsibility for the conduct of the school. This has allowed each of the Founders to re-define his/her own role in the life of the school.

One such significant re-definition is Rosemary's decision to step aside as Admissions Director, a position she has filled with such distinction since MA's founding in 1997. Beginning in January, 2015, Rosemary will take the title of Admissions Director Emeritus and remain in a supportive and consultative role to our new Admissions Director, Amy Nimmo. Amy has worked as Rosemary's assistant in the Admissions office for the past two years, while also serving as a therapist in MA's Sky House program. Prior to that, Amy served for a decade as a highly regarded and well-loved team therapist at MA.

Montana Academy has evolved into one of the nation's leading therapeutic boarding schools in large measure due to Rosemary McKinnon's special ability to combine open-hearted compassion for troubled kids and their families with a gargantuan work ethic. As a father whose son's life was transformed by his experience at MA, I feel a powerful sense of admiration and gratitude for Rosemary's achievements. I feel certain that hundreds of you reading this message feel the very same way.

Warmly,

Dennis Hartzell
