LifeSTREAM Therapy offers “Life Success Through Experiential & Adventure Modes™”. LifeSTREAM Therapy programs, based in Portland, Oregon, have as their mission the provision of family centered, research based, strengths-focused services that are engaging, action oriented and fun. They serve youth who are diagnosed with co-occurring disorders, also helping their families with communication and conflict issues and providing aftercare support for the youth following residential treatment.

They work in individual, group and family sessions. In addition to traditional “talk therapy”, they also use other therapeutic methods that include: Cooperative problem solving activities and games, Climbing Walls, Challenge “Ropes” Courses, Psychodrama & Family Sculpture, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. All their groups are co-ed, ten weeks in length and include family members on alternating weeks. Their current offerings include: “Unscrewing Yourself”, Anger management for ages 13 to 17, “Dogtown”, Social skills for ages 11 to 13, and “Choices”, which deals with substance abuse problems, for ages 14 to 17. The Choices group is suitable for Level 1 treatment, drawing its curriculum from the Cannabis Youth Treatment Series.

Russell C. Chamberlain, LCSW, CADCIII, MAC, who leads this practice, has twenty–four years experience providing therapy, training and consultation services in adventure based programming. He has worked in a variety of settings throughout the United States including the Pacific Crest Outward Bound School, and has been a group leader for Onsite Workshops. He also has been active in leadership roles as a member of the Board of Directors for the Association for Experiential Education (AEE), as chair of their Therapeutic Professional Group and an advisory committee member for each of the triennial International Adventure Therapy Conferences.
