July 07, 2008

The 2007-2008 academic year has been record breaking at Landmark College. Our fall and spring classes were the largest we have ever admitted in the history of the college. We have just finished enrolling our high school and visiting college student programs that began one week ago, and those programs also have record enrollment.

We are finalizing the enrollment of the sole remaining summer program, "Transitions," which begins on July 20th and ends August 2nd. "Transitions" is a two week program that is designed to support students with strategies in the first six weeks of their first semester in college. A 2006 study by U.S. Department of Education suggests that if a student can manage his or herself successfully in the first six week of college, then the probability of college graduation goes up significantly.

The "Transitions" program is designed to give entering first year students a preview of college life, both academically and personally.
Executive function strategies are taught as well study skills, note taking skills and an introduction to college writing. We also work with students to strategize how to structure their time, so that they can be the most effective and successful students possible.

"Transitions" is designed for students attending a four year college this fall who are at risk for difficulties relating to executive function.
