The Lakeview School is committed to serving youth and adolescents in the least restrictive environment with a focus on best diagnostic, educational and therapeutic practices enhanced by positive behavioral supports. The Summer Interim Alternative Placement Program at Lakeview provides an alternative to traditional summer programming. The Lakeview School serves students who can benefit from an out of school placement in a non-public special educational school; or an efficient and effective model to develop a comprehensive educational plan for implementation in the referring school district.
The theme for the summer is "Nature and the Natural World." Students will continue academic programming with added community opportunities that are available in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. Weekly field trips to local attractions, such as, Shaker Village, Squam Lake Science Center, Green Mountain Conservation Center, Polar Caves, Animal Kingdom and Tin Mountain Conservation Center will be fun and enhance their knowledge of the natural world. Student will participate in a therapeutic overnight camping trip, hiking and end of summer canoe trip. These trips will be guided by certified teachers and staff with training in first aid, medication administration and CPR. Students will benefit from the therapeutic environment and break from social media while still learning.
The Summer Interim Alternative Placement Program will commence on July 5th through August 29th. Students are able to enter the program at any time or stay for the duration. The program also includes regular family therapy / family training, a highly structured behavior management environment with 24 hour awake supervision, 1:1 staffing as necessary for the implementation of an ABA program, a focus on developing positive behavioral supports and the management of aggressive behavior and dyscontrol within the educational and residential program.
Lakeview School is a Private Special Education School and is licensed by the New Hampshire Department of Education to serve students with special needs in grades one through 12, from ages 8 to 21. School is year-round, both residential and day program, and provides services for children who experience significant behavioral and emotional difficulties secondary to a neurologic and developmental conditions.
