Lake House Academy
Girls Go To Youtheatre

The Lake House Academy girls spent the week of June 3rd at a local camp called "Youtheater" sponsored by the Flat Rock Playhouse. They were able to work with Broadway actor, Dave Hart and his professional staff. Our girls participated in many forms of theater arts-singing, dancing, Claymation, drama games and theater crafts. The girls were energized, enthusiastic and loved this fun-filled week.

Professional dancers taught girls the choreography for a face-paced hip-hop production and then had them perform for the group at the end of the week. When taking a break from dancing, the girls moved to the storyboard, working with clay, cameras and computers to produce their own Claymation DVD.

Later on they learned stagecraft, bonding through drumming, chanting and using rhythm instruments. They also tried out improvisation, script reading and performing parts of a play.

At the end of the week, the only question they had to ask was, "When can we come back?" And as a result, they will soon be attending a Film Camp to further their skills and interest through the Youtheater. We thank Youtheater for making this week possible for the LHA students!

Lake House Academy is a year round therapeutic boarding school for young girls ages 10 - 14. LHA provides an environment that allows for young girls to reconnect with their families, establish and maintain academic success, and gain the skills needed to identify themselves in order to thrive as young healthy girls.
