La Europa Academy Welcomes
Alina Dorsey

Alina began her journey in the helping profession volunteering at a day care facility for low income families. It was there that her desire to be a voice for children was born. She decided to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Social Work at the University of Utah. During her undergraduate studies, she worked with children with autism spectrum disorders and physical disabilities. She then provided services to teen mothers through DDI Vantage Early Head Start. These amazing young women showed her strength, resiliency, and were the inspiration to continue her education. Alina received her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. She then worked for 3 years at a residential substance abuse treatment facility for parents and their children providing group, adult, child and family therapy services.

Alina has worked with various populations utilizing a strengths-based approach and a combination of therapeutic modalities. Her passion for working with adolescents and her experience with depression, anxiety, addiction, self-harm, trauma, body image, and self-esteem brought her to La Europa Academy, originally as a Therapist for a few years before moving to the role of Admissions Director. Alina states, "As the Admissions Director, I am honored to present La Europa to families and professionals as a program I have seen to produce genuine growth and healing."

LaEuropa Academy is a residential treatment center that helps young women, ages 14 - 17, who are struggling with substance abuse, addiction and complex clinical issues like self-harm, sexual reactivity, eating disorder and body image issues and issues related to adoption and trauma, to find themselves through creative expression.
